Dental Implants vs. Dentures: Which Is the Better Long-Term Choice?
Missing teeth can affect more than your smile; they can impact your confidence, speech, eating habits, and long-term oral health. This guide...

Most dental patients expect to be referred out of their dentist’s office for surgical procedures. At Elevated Smiles Dentistry in Bel Air, MD, that is rarely necessary. Dr. Joshua Englander performs a comprehensive range of oral surgical procedures in-house, from routine tooth extractions to advanced bone grafting and reconstructive procedures. Fewer offices, fewer referrals, and a team that knows your full dental history from start to finish.
Simple and surgical extractions for teeth that are too damaged, infected, or crowded to be saved. Dr. Englander ensures you are fully comfortable before and during the procedure.
Learn About ExtractionsBone graft procedures to restore jawbone density lost from tooth loss, gum disease, or injury. Both socket preservation grafts and larger ridge augmentation procedures are performed in-house.
Bone GraftingSinus augmentation for patients who need dental implants in the upper back jaw but lack sufficient bone height due to the proximity of the maxillary sinus.
Sinus LiftA minor surgical procedure that exposes more of the tooth structure by removing excess gum and bone tissue. Used to allow a crown to be properly placed on a broken tooth or to improve a gummy smile aesthetically.

Modern surgical techniques
Every oral surgery procedure at Elevated Smiles Dentistry begins with thorough numbing of the treatment area. Sedation options including nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation are available for patients who want additional comfort. Before your appointment, Dr. Englander will review your health history, current medications, and any relevant imaging to ensure the procedure is planned correctly. You will receive detailed pre-operative and post-operative instructions in advance. Most surgical appointments take between 30 minutes and two hours depending on the procedure, and most patients return to normal activity within a few days.
For simple procedures like extractions, no special preparation is usually needed beyond avoiding food and water in the hours before if sedation is being used. For more involved surgeries, Dr. Englander may ask you to stop certain medications beforehand, arrange for someone to drive you home, and take any prescribed antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medication as directed. All specific instructions will be provided at your pre-surgical consultation.
