Dental Implants vs. Dentures: Which Is the Better Long-Term Choice?
Missing teeth can affect more than your smile; they can impact your confidence, speech, eating habits, and long-term oral health. This guide...

An intraoral camera is a small, pen-shaped device with a camera lens at the tip that captures magnified, high-resolution images of the inside of your mouth in real time. At Elevated Smiles Dentistry in Bel Air, MD, we use intraoral imaging so you can see exactly what Dr. Joshua Englander sees, making it easier to understand your diagnosis and make confident decisions about your care.

Modern Tech
Precise, efficient care
The intraoral camera captures live video and still images of your teeth, gums, and the surfaces between teeth at up to 40 times magnification. Images are displayed on a chairside monitor in real time as Dr. Englander moves the wand through the mouth. Cracks, decay, worn restorations, gum inflammation, and other conditions that are difficult to see under normal examination become clearly visible on screen. The images are stored in your digital record and can be used for insurance documentation, treatment planning, and tracking changes over time.
Seeing is understanding. When a patient can view the same crack or broken filling that Dr. Englander sees, the conversation about treatment shifts from abstract to concrete. Patients who view intraoral images of their own teeth consistently report higher confidence in treatment recommendations and better compliance with follow-through on recommended care. The camera also improves diagnostic accuracy, particularly for detecting small cracks, early decay, and failing margins on existing restorations that might be missed or difficult to document with visual exam alone.
Intraoral camera use is part of your comprehensive examination at Elevated Smiles and is not billed as a separate procedure. The images captured may be used as part of your clinical documentation for insurance pre-authorization when treatment is recommended. If you ever need to submit images to your insurance company to justify a recommended restoration, the intraoral photos provide objective visual evidence of the condition being treated.
